Time to build that ark

Thank goodness we had nice weather over the weekend because yesterday it started raining again and it has been raining since! Gary could not even go golfing tonight with his league because the course was closed as it is too wet! They are saying that it is suppose to clear over night and we should have drier and warmer weather, I sure do hope they are right.

I will have to post pictures of the couple of pair of socks that I have finished. One pair is at the trailer so I will take a picture of them this weekend and then put them up. I have cast on the first wonderful wallaby, the first out of seven. This is what I have decided to do for my daycare kids for Christmas. I bought the yarn for John's, Alexis's & Kenzie's. I will see once they are done what I have left over, I just might have enough of the blue that I am using for John's to make Dayne's. I had to laugh when I was buying the yarn. I am just using red heart from Walmart as these are kids sweaters that will be washed and washed and worn hard. I was looking at the colors, trying to decide if I would do the ribbings a co-ordinating color or make them all one color etc. I had two different yarns in my hand and was checking the guage of it to see if I could maybe use them together and along comes the saleslady. She admited she did not knit and knew nothing about yarn, but did I need help. I told her that I was just comparing the two to see if they would knit up the same guage and she tells me, oh yes they are both 4 ply so they will. I showed her the guage on both, telling her that the were a different guage so they would work up a bit different. She looked at me shocked and said, you mean that is what that means. LOL!!! She kept hanging around chatting with me and I just really wanted her to go and help someone else, so I could think.

Other things I have cast on at present are: a batwing shawl, Sue's poncho pattern & my 2 socks on 2 circulars. The batwing is mindless work that I pick up now and again. The ponch pattern should be mindless by now, but I just can't get that repeat in my head! The socks I do a few rows here and there, I think I am scared to do too much on them because I will eventually have to do the heel and I am not sure I have that figured out. LOL!

I have also been working on chemo caps and hat and mitten sets for the mitten tree. I have a list of 'want to do's' a mile long, but just need the time!

  • Thanks Sandra. I will need a bit of quiet time I am sure to figure out the first pair and will be yelling loudly if I get in a mess.

    Yes, so typical of Walmart!
