And now the week is over

Gary is driving Ryan and Tammy into Winnipeg to catch their flight home as I type. It was a great week with them! We really did have a good visit with them! Ryan got to see most family that he wanted to see and introduce Tammy to so they were happy about that. Tammy found the countryside different here and was so amazed when we would be driving along and there would be a single tree out in a field. Manitoba was extrememly nice to them and we didn't get any typical January weather, so they were really able to be out and about. They went for a walk in the snow one night, and they were able to go skating and things like that.

It was fun having Tammy here! She hasn't really had her mom in her life and her dad and brother pretty much raised her. She was so appreciative of the homemade meals we had, the baking and just the other little things. I was making scalloped potatoes one night and she asked me what they were and then said, I have never seen anyone make them from scatch!*S*

We went shopping with them one day and got them the mats they wanted for their place. They were part of their Christmas present, but they wanted us to wait till they were here and could pick out what they wanted. Tammy picked out yarn for a poncho that she would like me to make. She had a hard time picking between 2 colors and finally settled on the black as it goes with everything. I think I will go back and get the other color and make her two of them. She also sort of hinted that another Wallaby for Rawley would be great! As well as socks because he loves them and although she didn't out and out ask for socks for her, she did sort of hint. Oh yes, she also wanted to know if I could make her and Rawley Christmas stockings that match the one I knit for Ryan! So my needles will be kept busy *S* (and you don't have to worry Sandra, Crystal is in no way jealous that my needles will be busy for them! LOL!!! She knows that all she ever has to do is ask and I will make her whatever she wants *S*)

She celebrated her birthday while they were here. Ryan and her went out for supper and then Ryan brought her back her to get ready to go to the bar. We had gotten her a birthday cake and birthday present. She was just so surprised that we would do that for her and she said that she can't remember the last time she had had a birthday cake!

Sleep, what is that?

Friday night we sat up visiting and talking with Ryan and Tammy till late. Saturday I was up pretty much normal time. After they got up we went out shopping for a bit and then home to make supper. After supper everyone except me went to they hockey game. They got home from the game and I was just thinking that I should be heading to bed and they said, can we play a game of some sort? So we sat up playing a game till late. Sunday I had to get up to get things ready to go to Dad's. We had a really nice day at my dad visiting with other family members. Everyone was glad to get a visit with Ryan and they all were very pleased with Tammy. They all thought that she is a very nice girl. When we got home Ryan & Tammy said they were going for a walk in the snow. They were gone for a fair amount of time and they were pretty chilly when they got back, so had hot chocolate while we visited. And once again it was late when I got to bed and the alarm went off much too early this morning!!! Oh well..... it is all worth it! It is so nice having them here. Tammy is very easy to have in your home which makes it so much better.

The are home!

Last night they got home about 7:30p.m. It is so good to see the two of them. Tammy is such a nice girl and they just seem to 'fit' together so well. I really do think that her and Rawley have been a very good influence on Ryan, seems as though he has really done some growing up and maturing. We just sat around and talked last night, then ordered a pizza.

Today, once they are up, we are going out to do a bit of shopping. Last night while we were talking Tammy did mention that she would love more socks for Rawley and didn't out and out ask but hinted that she might like some for herself as well. She also said how much she loves Rawley's wallaby and would love another one for him. And then Ryan said, oh what was the other thing you wanted to know if my mom could make. She has been looking at the poncho's in the stores and has been wanting one. So I think my needles will be kept busy and I love it!!! It is fun to have them on the list to knit for.

Tammy really found it cold here and even Ryan thinks it is cold. Guess he has been away long enough to become aclimatized to BC weather. Today is suppose to be on the cold side and then it looks like it should start to warm up.

Today is the day!

It is a chilly morning here, -19C, with a light snow falling. It really isn't suppose to warm up any at all for the afternoon. I knew that we would have one of our coldest days so far this winter today! I think poor Tammy will be in for quite a shock when she steps outside. I just saw the forecast and it is 7C in Abbotsford, so that is quite the change. Their plane will get into Winnipeg at around 4 p.m. this afternoon. Gary will be leaving work between 2 and 2:30 so will be there shorty after they land and then they will most likely grab a bite to eat and head home. I can't wait to see them and give them each a big hug!

Went back to the doctor last night about this stomach pain that I had been having. The pills he put me on seem to have it under control for now. I am suppose to take the pills for one more week and then stop them, and we will see if the pain comes back or not! He said that if the pain did come back then it might mean that I have a peptic ulcer from my crohn's. If the pain does come back then he wants to refer me to Doctor Dhalla for the scope they do to look into your stomach. I certainly am not fond of that one, but I guess that is the only way to tell for sure what is going on in there.

Yesterday the only knitting I did I did on my lace shawl. I am now at the half way point. I have to repeat the pattern rows 14 times and last night I finished the 7th! Not sure now much I will get done on it this next week though, as it isn't something that I can knit on while visiting. Guess I will work on Gary's socks then.

2 More sleeps!

Only 2 more sleeps! I think time is going to start dragging now. Baking is done except for a matrimonial cake and will probably do that on Thursday. The spare room is ready and just waiting. *S*

Monday night we went bowling and it was okay, didn't do all that well though. Tina wasn't there, the roads were still icy and they didn't want to drive in. Can't say that I blame them, so because we were short people we were done early which was nice.

Tuesday didn't really do too much exciting. I casually mentioned to Gary one day that maybe we should just get rid of his truck and get a small car for him to drive back and forth to work. On Monday night he had to take his truck in to get some recall thing done to it. While there he was looking around and got talking to a saleman. He is suppose to go and talk to this guy Thursday night about a car. The salesman said that they would be able to do an even trade. Not sure what we will do, but Gary's truck seems to be at the point where it is going to start costing money everytime we turn around. The only reason we really have the truck is to pull the trailer, and that is 2 times a year. The place we store the trailer has a service that they will haul our trailer out to the campground, so we are seriously thinking about it.

I finished up my surprise that I was working on, now just have to wash and block it. Also making myself work on my lace shawl a little bit everyday. With so many stitches it seems to take along time to just complete one row though. Last night I realized that I was 1/2 way done but am now wondering if I should really make it as long as the pattern calls for. Since I am short it just might be too long for me... will have to ponder on that one I guess *S*

The other day I went through my stash and got in more organized and took all the part skeins etc out and put them in a rubbermaid bucket. While we have been watching tv in the evenings Gary has been rolling them for me. He finished up last night so they are all ready for hats, mitts etc. I will take some of it to the trailer and just leave it there to work on when the weather isn't the best and we are stuck inside.

Doctors Doctors Doctors

I have a pair of socks cast on, but don't seem to get to them very often. Have been trying to do a few rows on my lacy shawl every night as well as working on my surprise project. I tried making a cell phone pouch for Gary's cell phone but it is going back to the drawing board I think. The one I made works good for my phone but not so great for his. Crystal has been wearing her scarf back and forth on her walks to and from school and says that it is cozy, which is good.

It does seem that this getting older is strictly for the birds. I told Gary last night that I am sure my doctor's receptionist is going to think that we are having an affair I have been there so often. It is bad when you walk into his office and she starts getting your chart without asking who you are, and then you take your perscription next door and they have you all pulled up on the computer by the time you get to their counter. I expect that in a small town, but I live in a city! Wednesday afternoon I had a pain start at the top of my stomach and I figured it was probably gastritis or somesuch and that if I took Gaviscon it would be better the next day. No such luck, it appeared to be worse the next day and didn't appear to be easing at all throughout the day so off to the doctor I went. He put me on the examining table and checked it out and said that he would give me losac(spelling) to help with the production of stomach acid and that I had to come back in one week to be checked again, or sooner if it wasn't getting any better. He told me that because of my Crohn's as well as the new drugs that I have to take for it that he couldn't rule out something with my liver. But if these pills worked then he could safely assume that it was the acid problem.

I am still waiting to hear from the hospital to hear when I go for my second scope. Since I haven't heard yet it seems that the appt won't be while Ryan and Tammy are here which is good. I am anxious to have it though and see if these pills are doing what they are suppose to do.

I am also waiting, not so patiently to hear from a friend who was having a procedure done the other day. She has been in my thoughts and I hope that all went well for her.

2006 is upon us

My goodness it has been awhile since I have been in here! Life just sometimes gets in the way!

Christmas knitting all got finished on time (well except for dh's socks but he will get them sooner or later!). The daycare kids all seemed to love their wonderful wallaby sweaters and socks. We spend Christmas at my dad's, going there on Dec 24th and coming back on Dec 26th. It was nice, but quiet which was okay. My brother and his family got there late afternoon, even though the plans were for them to come early so we could play cards etc. The boys were both so exhausted they were grumpy! The turkey came out very well and everything else tasted very yummy! New Year's Eve we just were at home and watched a couple of movies. I lasted till midnight, but went to bed right after.(I thought that I was maybe coming down with the flu, but since it didn't really amount to anything I have come to the conclusion that I can't eat banana chips :o(. Having a bit of problems figuring out what I can and cannot eat again!) Gary and Crystal did stay up for awhile after that. New Year's Day we were here and for the life of me I can not remember what we had for supper.

My needles have been busy since the holidays. I finished off a couple of projects that had been put aside for holiday knitting. I also cast on a couple of others and finihed them up. Right now I have a lacy shawl from crochet cotton, a sock, and a surprise cast on. The lacy shawl just does not seem to grow very fast at all. But I am really liking the way it is turning out.

All the daycare kids are back this week and it has been wild so far. By the end of the week I hope they are back into my rules and my routine! They all had a pretty tough day yesterday morning, but the afternoon went some better.

We are not counting down the days until Ryan & Tammy come home! I can't wait to see them and have them here for the week. I had all these meals planned that I was wanting to make for them, but doesn't seem like they are going to happen. They will be here Satuday for supper, Sunday we are going to Virden, Monday I think they are getting together with friends, Tuesday they are going to Winnipeg to visit a friend of Tammy's, Wednesday we are getting family pictures taken and then taking everyone out for supper, Thursday is Tammy's birthday and Ryan is taking her out for a nice supper and Friday they head home! So far Ryan has said that I have to make Pineapple Fluff Salad and potato soup! LOL
