Back to Manitoba

On Wednesday we spent 14 hours in the car driving and pulled into the campground right around 10 p.m. It was a long day, but we were glad that we did it. We stayed at the campground until Sunday when we were invited to Doug and Kathi's 25th anniversary party. On Saturday Crystal came out and spent the day and the night with us.

No, she isn't really in a cage. I tried to take her pic through the sceen door of the trailer.

Wildlife!

Outside of Golden we say wildlife! It amazes me that this is the 3rd time that we have driven from Manitoba to BC and this is all the wildlife we have seen. We saw mountain goats last time too.

Leaving Golden

We got up and on the road fairly early Wednesday morning and this is what the weather was like. Very cloudy and foggy but thankfully it really didn't last all that long.

This gentleman is the only one who held us up for construction. We came across him just outside of Golden and we only had to wait maybe 15 mins so that really was not bad at all. Posted by Picasa

Golden BC

When we got to Golden we had trouble finding a hotel room. This is the only one that seemed to be available. It was much more extravagant that we needed, but that jacuzzi tub sure felt good after all those hours of driving.

All Good Things Must Come to and End

After we got back from the Market Monday afternoon Tammy and her Dad made us a delicious stir fry supper! We were all so full when we were done! We visited the rest of the evening, as well as making sure our things were all gathered up as we had to leave the next day.

We had such a good time, and the time really did fly by that is for sure. But it is looking like we just might be taking my Dad back there to celebrate Christmas this year. *S*

Just some pictures of what it was like after we got off the ferry in Vancouver and started our drive home

Coombs Market

After we wandered around the harbour and had lunch we drove to Coombs to the market. This was the neatest little place! They had groceries as well as a little bit of everything else, including very good ice cream!!! I was surprised at how reasonable their prices were. These goats live up ontop of the market all summer long!

Nanaimo Harbour

On Monday the six of us ( Tammy's Dad, Ryan, Tammy, Rawley, Gary and myself) went down the the Nanaimo Harbour and walked around taking in the sights. We went out and watched the people crabbing. That was pretty neat for us to see. There was a little seal swimming around in the harbour and he came right up to the dock for us to see.

Street Performers

Something totally new to us was all the street performers that are out on the streets. This one in particular was so good. They played music from Zimbagawae, sang, whistled and danced! We sat for quite awhile watching them!

Victoria

Friday the guys went golfing again at a fancy golf course! Friday evening we all went out to Fast Eddie's for supper and then we got to babysit Rawley while Ryan and Tammy went out on a date.

Saturday Tammy had to work so we just hung around Nanaimo again and did some shopping. Rawley and I had an important date to go to Walmart to pick out the yarn for his blanket. (An afghan I had made for Ryan a number of years was on their balcony and I told Rawley that I had made it for Ryan and he asked if I could make him one. Who can say no to a 4 year old with big brown eyes!) Rawley's favorite color right now is purple so of course one color choice was purple and then he figured that red would go really nicely and to top it all off we go flourescent green! It will be a colorful blanket that is for sure.

On Sunday Tammy's dad kept Rawley and the 4 of us headed to Victoria for the day. The weather was wonderful and we wandered around the harbour etc.
