Exciting News!!!!

First bit of exciting news came when I was talking to Ryan the other night. We were about finished talking and he added, "oh I guess I have a little more news." I asked him what that was. He proceeds to tell me that Tammy and him are engaged. Little news! Men! I am so happy for them. Tammy is so sweet, such a nice girl that I couldn't ask for a nicer dil. And Rawley is just such a cute little man! They just seem to make such a cute little family! There have been no dates set yet though.

Second bit of exciting news. Gary text messaged me from the hockey game to let me know that he won the 50/50. He won $1248! Wow! He will be able to have a really good time on his vacation the end of March!

Speaking of the end of March! It is seeming like it just can't get here fast enough. I am so excited. Have to start planning out what to take, what projects I want to work on. Good friends always equal good times and I can't wait!

Out of the deepfreeze

At least for now! Wow last week we had some very frigid temps for sure, wind chills in the high -30's and low -40's. I didn't poke my nose out the door during that time.

Doing the happy happy dance here as last night at supper time I took the last of my antibiotic pills. I am not going to miss them at all for sure. The one left such a horrid taste in my mouth and also made my mouth so dry! They both really affected my appetite too, hopefully that will improve as well. I think that might be why I am still so tired, I really wasn't eating very much to help build myself back up. Not looking forward to going through this all again in a few weeks, but keep telling myself it is better than surgery.

I think I already mentioned that I finished the socks for dh. He wore them this weekend and said they are fine. I finished the dishcloth that we did for our knit together as well. Almost finished a pair of socks for me too from Koigu. This is my first attempt at putting reinforcing in the heels and toes, and it worked out fairly well. I also did a few rows on my lacy shawl. I am glad to be able to work on it again, I didn't dare pick it up for a few days there as my concentration levels were nil.

We got our family pics back last week, and I am very happy with how they turned out. Now to get frames for them and get them hung up.

Monday Monday

Yesterday I had my oatmeal and then some toast. That pretty much filled me up. The antibiotics that I am on are really playing havoc on my tummy, so I don't have much appetite at all I did make roast chicken, potatoes and veggies for supper and had a little of that. Since I weighed myself on Thursday morning I have lost 5.5 pounds. I am still feeling pretty tired but am sure that will get better after a day or two.

I was able to finish up Gary's socks! I gave a brief thought to working on my lacy shawl, but thought better of it, so cast on a pair of socks for me. Wednesday I will be casting on a dishcloth for our knit together at Crafter's Cabin.

I am also starting to look at what projects I would like to get cast on, etc for the end of March. Can't wait to be knitting & visiting with great friends!

The countdown begins

Only about 3 more hours till I can finally have something to eat. I am hoping that once I can have something other than clear fluid that the perscriptions I have to take will stop bothering my stomach. The pharmacist told Gary that they should be taken with food...ha ha ha! I have never been so excited about the prospect of having a bowl of oatmeal before.

Between naps I have been working on Gary's socks. I am on the foot of the second one now so I can see the end. Have a few things printed off that I want to do too but then when don't I!

One more down, another one to go.

Home from the hospital. Had to be there at 7:30 this morning. They were running behind so it was a bit before I got in, which was okay because I just napped. I am not sure if there was less inflammation there or not as I didn't get to talk with the doctor. I see him in 3 weeks time. He did a dialation and oh my it was ouchie! Even with the sedation they gave me it was quite painful, painful to the point of making me sick to my stomach. And like anything that is painful it felt like it went on for a long time, but really it was not that long at all. He is going to do at least one more of them, but the next one will be done with x-ray (whatever that means) Because of the dialation I am still restricted to clear fluids for 48 hours. As soon as the procedure was done the pain started subsiding quickly which was good. We didn't get home till 11:30 which was later than last time that is for sure. Gary didn't want to leave me home alone while he got my antibiotic perscription filled so we stopped and did that one the way home. I have basically slept the day away and as soon as I post this, I am headed back to the couch for another nap I think.

Needless to say, no knitting got done today. I told Gary that I could work on his socks, but with the trouble I am having with them who knows what I would do. *S*

Water, water everywhere - but where is the food.

Since I go for my scope tomorrow, today is clear fluids only. I know that it is probably all in my head, but this morning I woke up starving! Coffee isn't really tasting all that wonderful today, and water seems so bland. Funny how normally I drink a lot of water thru the day, but today when I have to drink it it tastes bland.

I do hope that Dr. Dhalla does find some improvement tomorrow. I surely don't want to hear that there isn't significant improvement and that means surgery! I know that I will likely be on this medication for some time yet, but I would like to be able to cut the dose a bit. It is so hard on the stomach and I really don't want to have to go back on the meds for my stomach as well.

On the knitting front, I finished one sock for Gary and am working on the second. I will be so glad to have these ones finished and I can move on to something else. Last night I printed off a few patterns of things I would like to do, oh the pile just grows and grows!

Bin

Sunday an email came through on the daycare list that I belong to letting us know that Charline's Bin had passed Sunday around noon. Charline lives in Texas and runs a daycare. Bin used to be her helper, but his health became such that she had to take him off her licence. Bin was diagnosed with Alzeheimer's (sp) and he really really went downhill quickly. Bin had always say that he never wanted to go to a nursing home and I don't know how Charline did it, but she kept him home right up to the very end. She had a sitter come in 2 Saturday's a month to allow her to go out and buy groceries, run errands and just have some time away. Charline was always sharing funny stories about Bin, both before and after he became sick. My heart breaks for her! This is another time that the internet makes the world so small, but something like this makes you realize that it really is huge! I wish I could give her a big hug and just sit on her porch with her and share a coffee!

Sitting in the Frog Pond

It has been a long time since I have sat in the frog pond and frogged a completed object but I did this weekend. I have been working on this pair of socks since right after Christmas for dh. They were suppose to be a Christmas present, but I just ran out of time to get them done. Then after Christmas other things just seemed more interesting and fun to do that socks. Decided that he had waited long enough so I have been working on them in the evenings while we watch tv. Got the first one finished and before I kitchenered the toe I handed to him and asked him to try it on... too short. Realized I did it 50 rows instead of 60 so ripped out the toe decreases added 10 rows and got him to try it on again. I have no idea what the heck I did but it came nowhere near fitting him! So instead of wasting time trying to figure it out I ripped it out and started over. I am down to the foot now and it better fit him this time, or he may never get socks again. LOL!!

I did finish Tammy's poncho's though, and I will get them off to her today or tomorrow. I have their Valentine's things ready to ship to so will include them as well. Ryan called yesterday before they went to a Super Bowl party so Rawley could say thank you for a book that I had sent home for him. When Ryan tried to give the phone to Rawley he didn't want to talk, Ryan told him he didn't have to talk just say thank you for the book while Ryan held the phone. Rawley said, No, I don't feel like saying those words today! LOL!! What a guy he is!

Saturday when we were out shopping I came across a scarf kit at Superstore. There was one that would go with my new winter coat so I bought it. It really worked up quickly and is quite nice. Very soft and cozy*S*

When I was at Dr. Benning's on Saturday for my B12 he asked me when I was suppose to go back to Dr Dhalla. I told him that I was told the end of January first part of February but I hadn't heard from the hospital yet. He told me to phone them and get on their case. So I phoned the hospital this morning and they had me there, but as an elective so had no idea when I would get in. I told them what Dr Dhalla had told me and they said to contact his office and tell them what was up and they could phone the hospital. Right after lunch the hospital phoned to tell me they had a cancellation Friday morning, so that is when I go in. I am really interested to find out if these pills have been doing what they are suppose to be doing. Would also love to have him tell me that I can lower the dose! But that just might be a pipe dream *S*
