Another Sad Day

This day has been coming for awhile now but it doesn't make it any easier. We have come to the difficult conclusion that it is time to put our dog down. She is a poodle/terrior cross. She has arthritis and over the last year it has gotten much worse and even with medication we could tell that she was in pain a good deal of the time. Her cataracts have also advanced to the point where her sight isn't very good anymore either. She has been getting snappier towards us and a bit ago she actually bit Gary. We made excuses for her, but deep down we knew that the time was coming. A few weeks ago she bit Crystal and that was our deciding factor. Crystal can do just about anything with this dog and for her to bite Crystal told us something. So today is the day that she is going to the vet. We are going to bury her in our backyard in one of her favorite places that she loved to lay. It will be a sad and somber weekend I am sure.

Time to catch up

Wow, where did that last week go! Sped right by. The week before sped by too. I was able to get together with 3 wonderful friends and spen our time visiting, laughing, knitting, eating and having a drink or two. Gary and I left here bright and early Saturday morning and drove pretty much straight thru to Edmonton. We met up with the three S's and went out for supper and back to their room for some more visiting. Sunday morning the three S's met us at our hotel and I got in with them and we were off on our adventure. We headed to a Lodge in Edson Alberta. The place was really nice, the view was fantastic! We sat with our knitting looking out the HUGE windows at the mountains. We were there for 2 days and it was so nice and so relaxing. We got to see the lady's brand new cocker spaniel puppies and they were so sweet. We even got to puppy sit them while she went into to town for a bite. I think it was more nerve wracking than babysitting. LOL While at the Lodge our pedicures were started! One person a night got a lovely pedicure. I know when it was my turn I felt oh so pampered!

After our 2 day stay at the Lodge we headed back to Edmonton to the bed and breakfast. It was such a nice place and we loved the character of the squeaky floors during the day, but weren't so fond of them as you tried to 'quietly' make your way to the facilities in the middle of the night. One funny thing was the bathroom light was on a motion sensor/timer. The first night we were there I decided that I would love a nice soak in the old claw foot bathtub. So..... I proceeding to do just that. I was laying back enjoying my bath, eyes closed, when I heard a click. Open my eyes and the bathroom is in total darkness, the timer had run out! LOL. So there I sit, never thinking to call our to the other's and ask them to open the door to turn the light back on, waving my arms etc trying to get my light back on. I had to get out of the tub, and get almost to the door before the light clicked back on. LOL! While in Edmonton we got to visit some very nice lys that Susanne had picked out for us, but I think our best find was totally a fluke and what a fluke it was. We had been out and about the first day and were driving back to the b&b and Sandra was watching out the window and casually said, oh, Yarn Revival. Susanne said, is that where it is. I haven't really heard good things about it. Well who ever had said that it wasn't good was crazy! There was yarn, yarn and more yarn! Goodness, it was the first place that I have ever been that I could shop while using the washroom! *S* We told Bonnie about how we had come to be together etc while we browsed through her store. She was having an open knitting evening that night and invited us back, but by the time we had eaten we were all ready for our jammies and to just sit and veg. We made daily trips to visit Bonnie and of course spend our money.

I think the highlight of the trip must of been after we had enjoyed a fabulous Italian supper at a restuarant that Susanne's dd had suggested. We needed to stop at a store for some more bottled water. We pull into the parking lot and all start getting ourselves together to get out. Sue openned her door and next thing I knew she was laying on the pavement, laughing her head off. Sandra came around the back of the car, saw Sue, Sue starts pointing to her purse. Her foot and gotten stuck in the strap as she was getting out and tripped her. (Now does that sound like anyone we know!) Sandra starts laughing. The three of us are killing ourselves laughing and poor Sharon seems totally oblivious to what was going on!
One other highlight was getting to meet Susanne's dd Lori, her gd Ali and her gs CM! Lori is a lovely young lady. Ali was a wonderful hostess serving tea and cookies that she had made herself. And CM is just so precious!

Now it is time to sit and wait till spring break arrives once again! And who knows, next spring break may find us in a nice warm climate, knitting our hearts content while sitting outside. And if Susanne ever gets tired of chauffeuring us around, we will just call on the backup chauffeur! oh..... is it March yet LOL!!!!

Sad today

This morning when Kenzie's dad brought her in he told me that he had some news. He has had a job offer in Calgary and will know by the end of the week if they are moving or not. It sounds like a good opportunity for them, but I will sure miss Kenzie. They won't move till the end of the school year, but still!

On a funny note this morning Gary was getting ready for work. Got his jeans out of the closet and went to put them on. I think he was figuring that he had been really bad on vacation as he could not get them on! LOL turns out that a pair of my jeans had gotten hung up with his. Poor guy LOL!!!
