All moved but not settled

I talked to Ryan for a minute last night and they are all moved, but were still unpacking. Tammy's dad is bringing Rawley home today and then staying for a few days to give them a hand so that is nice. I hope this place works out better for them and they are happy there.

Crystal finished her first week at the CU and she really is enjoying it. The person who is shadowing her and training her told her that she was catching on very quickly so that is good. She leaves every morning looking so professional all dressed up. Her and I went shopping for clothes one day last week and what an ordeal. She is so fussy and so set in her ways (sounds like an old lady. Oh isn't this pretty! She would roll her eyes and say mmmoooommmmmm! LOL Oh well, we did finally get a few things bought so she is set for a bit.

Our weekend at the trailer was on the cool side and Sat night and Sun were rainy. We had the bonfire at our campsite Sat night and it got rained out about 11 oclock. It was raining such big drops it sounded terrible on the roof. I couldn't sleep as long as it rained hard. Then the wind got up and you just don't feel comfortable in a trailer in the wind, but finally the rain let up and the wind went down and I got some sleep.

Sat & Sun there was an airshow in Virden. I know they got it in on Sat as we heard the snowbirds, but don't know about Sun. On Friday the kids and I were watching for the snowbirds, as they do quite often practice just out behind us when they have a show in the area. But I guess Virden has done work on their airstrip so they can land there now...so we didn't get a free show this year.

Trying to figure out what to make my daycare kids for Christmas. Sort of thinking shrugs for the girls but not sure for the boys. The girls want fingerless gloves, and might make them for everyone. I didn't accomplish much at the trailer this weekend as I was ripping out more than anything. I was trying to figure out a pattern for a shrug that was crocheted. The pattern was very poorly written and I finally decided that it wasn't for me. Have now found a little knitted one that I think I might go with. Also working on a pair of trekking socks but didn't get much done on them either.

Into the real world

Today Crystal started her job at the CU. She said she wasn't nervous when she left this morning but I think there were a few nerves there. She came home for lunch and said that she has been enjoying it and they are keeping her busy. She got to work on the ATM stuff from over the weekend, verifying that the totals were right etc. She liked counting ALL that money. *S* The nice part of this job is because of dealing at the CU she knows over 1/2 the people that work there. She is thinking that she will really enjoy it.

May Long

May long weekend has come and gone. We were at the campground of course and it wasn't too bad out there. The days started rather cloudy and overcast but the sun did manage to sneak out for a bit later in the afternoon each day. Saturday and Sunday night we sat around the fire and friends campsites and it was nice there, but oh so chilly when we left the fire. We turned the furnace on each night and I did hear it cut in quite a few times. Crystal wasn't so lucky as she was sleeping in a tent and froze! Her and Andrea came home early as it was too cold for them.

I did get in some knitting time and some reading time so that was nice. Gary got in some golf time so he was happy. My dad came out Saturday and stayed to have supper with us.

Burger flip & camping

We got to M&M's around 9:30 to help set up for the burger flip. It was a chilly morning and it was raining so wasn't the best day. We got things all set up and organized by 10:00 and started cooking. We had a fair number of customers before we left at 11:00. I sure hope that they had a super busy lunch hour because this really is a wonderful fundraiser.

After we finished there we came home and got things together so we could head to the trailer. The closer we got to the trailer we noticed that there had been less and less rain and when we got to the campground there had been none. It wasn't that warm out but it wasn't wet. We unloaded the car, organized things and then we sat around the fire. We cooked supper over the fire and then just stayed in for the night. It was pretty chilly so we just watched some TV. Oh yeah, my dad showed up just after supper and stayed for a short visit. We slept in a bit on Sunday morning which was nice. Sunday was much nicer weatherwise so we got some more things done and then walked around and visited with people that we hadn't seen since last year.

I finished my STR socks and I LOVE them. They are just so comfy to wear. I cast on a pair of socks for a friend this morning. It is a really simply pattern but is working up rather nicely.

Yesterday our weather was warm enough out that we finally got to use our a/c. I think it is going to work really well. It is running again today.

On the move again!

I was talking to Ryan the other night and he told me they were looking for another place to live. The place they are living is just too expensive for them. They pay rent plus 1/2 of the utilities and the utilities are working out way more than they were told they should be. Then he told me that they had given their notice but hadn't been accepted anywhere yet. He does like to cause his poor mum stress! But it has all worked out and they have a place to move into the end of the month. It is called an Apartment condo, according to Ryan the condo part simply means that it has insuite washer and dryer. They seem to think it will work out great and depending on what the utilities are there they will be saving anywhere from $100 - $250 a month so that should help out.

Tomorrow is Rawley's birthday so we will have to phone him. The fair is in town so they are taking him to the fair to celebrate. On Saturday he is having the kids from his daycare to a petting zoo place for his party. Then on May long they are going across to Abbotsford and having a BBQ at Tammy's dad's.

Today Gary off to Virden to get our trailer and then get it set up at the campground. This weekend will be the first weekend of camping. Yippee!

Crystal has most of her marks back now and has A's and A+'s so she is happy. She is finding her time off rather boring. Her friends are working so not much to do through the day. She is looking forward to starting work after the long weekend. She still has a few shifts at the Sub Shop but they are still mostly evening shifts. She hasn't totally decided what she is going to do about that job. She would like to keep a few shifts to keep her foot in the door for when she goes back to work but doesn't want too many since she will be working full time at the Credit Union.

Today the guys are here putting in our ductless air conditioning. They should be finishing up soon. Won't even be able to try it out as it is only 7C here today, but will be nice to have it when the hot weather does come.

I finished up the baby sweater for Savannah (Candice's baby girl) and have to get it ready for the mail. Almost done my first STR sock and I am really loving that yarn. Now I have to get some things ready to have at the trailer to work on when the weather isn't the best.

TGIF

It is finally Friday. This has seemed like a very long week for some reason. Maybe it was because of the dreary, overcast, rainy weather that we had all week. This morning it was only 0C when I got up! It is suppose to start warming up now and I hope it is right.

We were suppose to be going to a BBQ tonight. It was being held in honor of one of Gary's coworkers. Last July I wrote about Darrell and his horrific car accident and this is who the bbq was suppose to be for. He was suppose to be getting discharged from the hospital today, but for some reason he isn't so the bbq is cancelled. I do have to wonder about planning the BBQ for the day he was getting discharged, but anyways. So now we will probably just veg tonight and then run errands tomorrow and hopefully get some yardwork done. I need to get busy in my flowerbeds but the weather has just been too yucky to do it.

Next Saturday the 13th we are helping at the Crohn's and Colitis Charity BBQ. It is our first weekend of camping so we won't be able to go out Friday night, but our shift is from 9:30 - 11:30 so we will go out when we are done. I sort of do hate to miss Friday night, but what with the weather the way it has been and this really is a good event that raises alot of money for research so it is okay. We have volunteered at it for a number of years and it is always a fun time.

Phoned my dad last night to wish him happy birthday and he told me that it is official that my brother and his partners have sold their business. They owned a heavy duty mechanic shop in Virden and someone came along with the right money so they decided to sell. They have all been doing this sort of work for a number of years now and felt that they had had enough. Pulling those wrenches can really be hard on a person's body! I guess since the word has gotten out he has had a few people phoning him offerring him jobs. He is applying for one and if he doesn't get it he will probably take one of the offers he has had. I remember when these guys were thinking about going out on their own and building their shop and all. My brother phoned me just to talk about it. He talked himself in and out of the idea 100 times during that phone call. It was a big decision to make, but did prove to be an excellent decision. They have done well there but is now time to move on.

Another year older

Haven't updated here for a bit so thought I should do that today. We celebrated my birthday by going out for supper which was nice. We have a new Montana's here that we had not been to so we went there. Everyone was happy with their meals. The service could of been a bit better, but they were very busy. Today is my Dad's 77th birthday. I had to calculate that out about 4 times to make sure I was right. When he celebrates a birthday for some reason it makes me think of my mom and to think how old she would be. She would of turned 72 in January. I just can't envision her being that age. We aren't doing anything for Dad's birthday today but will probably be getting together next weekend. He has a turkey in his freezer that he wants to get cooked so I will cook it and invite some family members over for supper.

Crystal wrote her last exam yesterday and is now waiting to get her marks. She says it feels good to be done, but is looking forward to starting her job at the CU. She will have her shifts at the Sub Shop for the next two weeks and then after the long weekend she starts the CU. She has told the bosses at the Sub Shop that she will help them out when people are away etc, but doesn't really want evening shifts as she thinks that it might just be too much. Who knows, we may even see her at the trailer a couple of times this year, or not! LOL

Gary is going to take our trailer to the campground on the 10th and get it all set up and then we will camp that weekend. I am so looking forward to getting out there, it is so quiet and peaceful in the beginning. Also looking forward to being back with the friends that we have made there.

Yesterday Gary went and picked up our 1/2 a beef. Our freezer is full! Can't wait to take a package of T Bones to the trailer and cook them over the wood fire. mmmmmmmmmmm nothing better.

I am working on a baby sweater. Gary's niece had a baby girl so decided on this pattern for her. It is moss stitch and seems to be going so slow. I do think that it is going to be cute when it is finished. I also have 2 shawls still on the needles that I haven't touched since I was in Edmonton. I realized I really should get working on my white lacy crocet cotton one. We have a wedding to go to in July and I could wear it there. I also have Gary's socks on the needles, one sock finished and the other one I just finished the gusset decreases. I have wound my STR and can't wait to get it on my needles. As well I have wound some of the Trekking that I got from Germany so it is waiting to go as well. I koolaid dyed a skein of white alpaca and have it wound ready and waiting as well.... oh there is never enough time.

Yesterday I came acoss a swift that was on for 50% off! I hummed and hawed and then decided to go for it. Filled out the order form and got to the last part and it comes up that they won't ship to Canada. Well!!!!!! Wasn't sure what I would do and then a good friend of mine came online and she said I could ship it to her and then she would forward it on to me! I am doing the happy dance now that is for sure! I did try to wind one hank with Gary's help.....oh the mess we had!!!!! I need a swift! LOL

The house still seems so quiet without Bailey here. I can't believe how much more I have to sweep now! She was a good crumb picker upper. Seems funny to not have to move her in the morning when I make my bed, or when the doorbell rings there is no barking. Crystal and I are going to the greenhouse just behind where we live to get a stepping stone to put where she is buried.
