It is almost here

The holiday season has seen us busy busy busy but that is what goes with this time of year. This year I did some online shopping which was so nice, delivered right to the door and for the shopping we did at the stores we got up Sat morning and got to the stores when they openned so we didn't really have to fight our way through any really huge crowds. I am glad that I don't have to go near a mall these last few days.

Last weekend our very good friends Doug & Kathi came down and we went to 34th street bar and grill for supper. The food was good, but the service could of been a bit better. We had a good visit with them and enjoyed hearing about their trip to Disney. Saturday I spent the day curled up in my chair, wrapped up in my blanket and dozing in and out. Seems that the cold that I had a month ago has come back. I went to the doctor Thurs night and he put me back on antibiotic. Sunday we went out to Virden and had a mini Christmas with my brother and his family. My aunt and uncle came over for a visit and then we all went to B&D's for smorg supper. It was very good.

This week I have been busy trying to keep laundry caught up, but is laundry ever really caught up! Getting the suitcase with presents packed and then checking it and double checking it to ensure that everything is in there. Last night it was Ackland's Christmas party which was supper at The Keg, and it was yummy! Tonight we will pack our suitcases, get last minute things ready to go as tomorrow night as soon as everyone is done work we are heading to Virden to pick up dad and then to Regina for the night. Saturday morning we will catch our plane and be off to see the kids!

We are hoping the weather cooperates and we can wander around Victoria a little bit before we head to Nanaimo. Depending on how things go and what time we get to Nanaimo etc we will either go out and get groceries Saturday night, or Sunday. Sunday it sounds like we will spend time visiting and whatever else might come along. In the evening we will likely drive around looking at the lights. Monday will be all the hustle and bustle and excitement of Chistmas Day! Boxing day we are going over to the mainland to spend boxing day open house at Tammy's grandparents. We will get to meet some more of Tammy's family which will be great. After we are done there we are going to drive to Vancouver and see some sights and then catch the ferry back. It is going to be a totally different Christmas than we have ever spent before but I am thinking it is going to be great! It will be nice to have a little one around again as that is what it is all about.

This will likely be my last post before we leave, so I will take this time to wish you all a very very happy holiday season!

Dad

Yesterday Dad phoned me to say that my aunt was on her way over to take him to the hospital because his heart was racing again. They kept him in last night and possibly tonight because they are doubling one of his meds. The side effects of this can be dizziness and unsteadiness and they didn't want him home alone.

The nurse told my aunt that when he comes up and the hook him to the monitors that it isn't showing a thing so there really is no alarm.

I talked with my brother last night and he has the same thoughts as I do about it being an anxiety thing as well as a depression. He said that this has started happening more since my brother sold his business. When my brother had his business my dad stopped by at least twice a day for coffee and to visit with the guys etc and now that is gone. His only two hobbies are golfing, which isn't happening at this time of year, and curling. But he has himself convinced that he can't curl and is talking about quiting. My brother also said that he tries to phone dad as often as he can and when he asks him how he is, dad always answers oh alright I guess. And then when he asks him what he has been doing he answers...nothing, there is nothing to do!!!

Frustrating!!!

Another one bites the dust!

Crystal got the phone call to tell her that they are writing her car off. She is NOT happy with what they are offerring her so she is going to fight it. This is the second car this girl has written off! The first one wasn't her fault though, and really this one wasn't either it was road conditions.

Crystal's Weekend

Saturday was Crystal's Christmas party with the Credit Union. She hasn't been feeling that great for the past week and was worrying that she wasn't going to feel good for the party. She woke up feeling pretty puny but got up and got herself going and made it to work. The girl she worked with told her not to worry about the party, she was going to have so much fun she would forget about how she was feeling.

Their party started in the afternoon with a car rally of sorts. They were given a list of things they had to do, a digital camera, and a team leader and away they went. Crystal did have a blast at the rally. Then then had a banquet room at one of the hotels and they met there for supper and games. They had ordered chinese food. She was able to eat some of it so that was good. She said that watching people who have been drinking play pictionary and guesstures (or something like that) was hilarious. She said the more they drank the funnier their pictures got.

The bad part of her Saturday happened when she was driving Al home. She hit a patch of ice and lost control of her car and ended up sliding into a parked van. There was very minimal damage to the van, but her car didn't fare so well. She will phone in her claim today when she comes home for lunch and then wait till the adjust it to see if they will write it off or fix it. Thankfully neither of them were hurt and by far that is the main thing.

Another Weekend

We got up and out shopping in good time Saturday morning and got most of our Christmas shopping done. I do still have to shop for my dad and he is so hard to buy for. The stores weren't bad while we were shopping but we did drive by the mall about noon and holy smokes, the parking lot was jam packed!

Sunday we put up our tree and a few decorations. At first we said, since we won't be here we weren't going to put up the tree but I just couldn't do Christmas without a tree. It feels so much more festive now that it is up.

Best of all I finished up all my knitting that was a must do and now I can just do a few things that I thought I might like to do if I had time. I will take and post pictures later today. It feels nice to have the daycare knitting all done!
